Wow – 2006. Time definitely does fly. Seems like just yesterday that BOTW transformed to the current format. While we may look a lot different than we did back in 1994 (earliest Wayback shows is December ’96, but this is pretty much how the site looked in 94 ), we continue to provide users with the best sites online.

In ’94 the sites were so few, and the technology so basic that, the categorization was fairly “easy”. Simply pick some of the “best” that was then available, and categorize by best of class. The interenet was a simpler place then. Now sorted both topically and regionally, BOTW still holds true to its original matra of selecting the best sites and categorizing them for our users.

We saw tremendous growth in 2005: listings grew five-fold; membership tripled; our editor base grew to more than 100 editors; our sponsorships grew ten-fold (thanks largely in part to the free trial); we completed the redesign of BOTW; we launched the BOTW blog directory; we launched the BOTW Media network; and, we finished a complete update and overhaul of our technology.

Going forward, we will continue to execute on our plan of providing our users with the highest quality content, through our current channels, and through additional channels in the months to come. Over the next few days, we will be firming up goals and game plans for proper execution on all fronts. Though some new things may be coming out of the playhouse, rest assured that you can count on the same quality that our users have come to expect.
