Having spent the better part of a decade working at what some of us exes refer to as “TOD” (The Other Directory)… I still have fond memories of the time there. Entered as a rookie webmaster that ran across it back in its early days (1999), and over the years there learned a ton about the internet, SEO, and of course the nature of volunteer work.

Go to the BOTW Blog Directory, click on a category of interest, then hit the “Become a BOTW editor” button, the app is simple. It goes to several staffers, but I’m the one that generally handles the queue, so I’d say you have a fair chance of approval provided the app is filled out correctly. The app process is pretty simple, takes a few minutes.

In mid November I had the opportunity to talk to Greg Hartnett, President of Best of the Web… having stumbled across an advertisement for an editing position only marginally related to my eventual role. He was hunting a “senior editor”. After some discussion he had me assembling a directory editor “dream team“… virtually all of whom exceed my own editing skills. It is a privilege to work among them.
